Dr. Spencer currently has over 125 publications and is co-author of the 6^th edition of the book, Materials Thermochemistry, used as a course book and reference book, still, throughout the world.

Prior to December 2001, he was for 10 years Chairman of the Scientific Group Thermodata Europe (SGTE).  The Spencer Group is currently an SGTE member.

He was Guest Editor for MRS Bulletin Special Issue on ‘Computer Simulations from Thermodynamic Data...’

He is a member of TMS and is a Key Reader for the Metallurgical and Materials Transactions journal and an Associate Editor of the Calphad journal.  He is also a Founding Member of Calphad.
